WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte cheerleading squad competed at Platinum Nationals this past weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C., placing second in the team's first competition in five years.
Â
In a prestigious collegiate cheer division, the Royals took second, leaving a .1 margin between first and second place. This division required teams to present 45 seconds of game-day elements including a cheer, mascot, flags, and overall collegiate image, as well as a 2:15 music performance with stunts, tumbling, pyramids, and intricate choreography. The team also received an extended invitation to compete in THE ONE Nationals later this spring.
Â
"This makes me so happy," head coach of cheerleading Jasmine Cox commented. "I would like to thank my amazing athletes for their hard work and commitment this season. Also, I would like to thank the amazing community at Queens University and the amazing community partnerships for their support. "
Â
Additionally, Cox would like to announce tryouts that will be taking place for the 2019-2020 season, beginning Monday, April 15 at 7 p.m. Video submissions are also welcome for incoming students. Please contact Cox at coxj3@queens.edu with video submissions or additional questions.
