Early Goal Leads Queens Past Tusculum

ECharlotte - The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team (6-3-1; 2-2 SAC) got back to .500 in South Atlantic Conference play defeating Tusculum (3-6; 0-3 SAC) by final score of 2-0.

After scoring one goal in its last three games, Queens struck early with a fifth-minute goal by junior forward Lulu Phan. Freshman midfielder Mia Manuel assisted her former high-school teammate to escort the Royals to a lead they held through the game's entirety. 

Tusculum managed to limit the deficit to one goal into the second half, but senior defender Taylor Hunkele provided insurance with her second career goal in the 66th minute to secure a two-score lead. 

Queens outshot the visiting Pioneers 23-8 and had four more shots on goal. Meanwhile, freshman goalkeeper Erica Turner kept a clean sheet for the fourth time this season recording seven saves in the process.

After a three-game homestand, Queens is back on the road to play defending conference champion, Carson-Newman in Jefferson City, TN on Saturday, October 5th at 5 p.m.
