CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 2 Queens University of Charlotte now sits 15-0 on the year after a hot shooting second half of play helped the Royals capture a 93-64 road win over Mars Hill University this evening. The win was the 12
th of the season won by double-digits for the Royals who also move to 7-0 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Lions fall to 2-12 on the year and 0-7 in the league.

Senior guard
Todd Withers totaled 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals, three blocks, and two assists to lead Queens in its 29-point victory.
Ike Agusi posted 12 points, seven assists, and two steals while
Daniel Carr added 12 points, five steals, and four assists.

After a first half that saw the Royals holding just a 38-32 lead at the break, Queens would shoot nearly 70-percent from the floor to increase its lead to 29 points before the final horn sounded. A 9-2 run at the start of the second would help the Royals grow their lead to 13, 47-34, at 17:15 in the second, and a three-pointer from Agusi at 11:08 sparked a 10-4 spurt that put Queens in front 72-52 by the 8-minute mark.

Queens' starters would exit the game with 2:36 to play, and the Royals in front, 85-62. The reserves then closed things out with an 8-2 run thanks to five straight points from
Trevor Recio and a triple from
Josh Van Weezep.

The Royals outscored the Lions, 52-28, in the paint, and totaled 18 fast-break points to Mars Hills' zero in this evening's game. Additionally, Queens scored 23 points off the Lions' 20 turnovers. Â

Austin Gilyard led Mars Hill this evening with 23 points off the bench while Vernon Jackson totaled 11 points.

Queens will look to match its program-record 16-0 start last season on Wednesday, January 10 at Newberry College. The Royals swept the Wolves during the 2016-17 season winning 104-86 at home and 89-84 on the road. Queens leads the series, 13-5. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
