NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte wrestling team competed at the Newberry Duals on Sunday, facing Newberry College, Coker College, Life University, and Emmanuel College, in four separate competitions.

Noah Curreri (4-0), Devinaire Hayes (2-0) and Drew Barrett (2-0) highlighted the day for Queens with unbeaten performances, as the team dropped all four duals.

"Our team gained some valuable experience and motivation this weekend against many quality opponents," said head coach Ken Chertow. "Noah Curreri had our strongest performance going 4-0, largely dominating his opponents. Drew Barrett and Devin Hayes went 2-0. Stephon Hailiburton was 2-1. All 20 members of our team traveled and got to compete in matches. We are committed to getting everyone the valuable experience they need to develop, compete and improve as our roster is nearly all freshman."
 
"In our fourth dual we competed against two-time defending National Champion Emmanuel College from Georgia. Each team won five matches so this gives us a sense of where we stand this season for club competition. Though we are scheduling largely NCAA Teams, we will compete this season at the club nationals before making the move to NCAA Championships next season with our 2018 recruiting class joining us."

The Royals return to competition on Thursday, Dec. 7, in a tri-meet versus Spartanburg Methodist College and Belmont Abbey College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
