INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the first time since the 2007 season, the Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team will be competing in the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championships. The Royals received an at-large bid to compete in the
Southeast Regionals as the No. 5 seed after posting an 11-2-3 record.
"I am extremely proud of the players and how they have competed throughout the season," Queens Head Women's Soccer Coach
Denise Brolly stated. "It is a special moment for the program and we as a coaching staff are very excited to be part of it. The players genuinely deserve this opportunity to compete at this stage."
Queens will take on UNC- Pembroke who received the No. 4 seed. The Braves hold a 15-4-1 record after winning the Peach Belt Conference Championship over the weekend.
The NCAA DII Southeast Regional game will take place at top-seeded Carson-Newman University (17-0-1) on Friday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. The Eagles earned the top-seed after going the entire 2017 season unbeaten. They are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation.
Seeded second in the region is No. 10 Columbus State (15-3-0), while No. 18 Flagler (15-2-2) is seeded third and Limestone (17-2-1) is seeded sixth.
For first- and second-round competition, teams will be paired in their respective regions with the No. 4 seed playing the No. 5 seed; and the No. 3 seed facing the No. 6 seed Thursday, Nov. 9 or Friday, Nov. 10. The winner of the No. 4/5 seed game will advance to play the No. 1 seed and the winner of the No. 3/6 seed game will take on the No. 2 seed on Saturday, Nov. 11 or Sunday, Nov. 12. All games will be played on the campus of a participating institution and will consist of two sites per region. The two finalists in each region will advance to third- and quarterfinal-round competition to be played Thursday, Nov. 16 or Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18 or Sunday, Nov. 19. The semifinals and championship games will take place Nov. 30 and Dec. 2 at Children's Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri hosted by the Kansas City Sports Commission, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association, and Rockhurst University.
