Box Score MORROW, Ga. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team, ranked No. 10 in the southeast region, traveled to face Clayton State University, of the Peach Belt Conference, currently ranked sixth in the region this evening. The Royals fell 2-0 to the Lakers bringing their record to 2-2 on the year, while Clayton State improves to 3-1.

After the Lakers got off to a quick start with a goal from Maria Marti Bartis just 1:46 into play, the Royals wouldn't see their first chance to put one in the net until the 19
th minute when junior midfielder
Caitlyn Rodrigues put a header on frame that was turned away by Clayton State goalkeeper, Charlotte McCormack. Another shot on goal would come in the 39
th from junior forward
Danielle Nicosia, but it was once again saved by McCormack. At the break, the 1-0 score stood.

The Royals continued to hold the Lakers scoreless into the second half until the 66
th minute when Jencilia Villaverde found the back of the net after lofting a shot over Queens' Danchak from about 30 yards out. The 2-0 score would hold until the end of regulation.

The Lakers outshot Queens 16-7, putting nine shots on goal compared to the Royals' three. Additionally, Danchak completed the night in goal with seven saves, while McCormack totaled three for the Lakers.

Queens will remain on the road for their game against the University of North Georgia, ranked 11
th in the nation, on Sunday. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m.
