Box Score ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team, ranked seventh in the region, now sits at 11-6-2 after falling 1-0 to Wingate University (15-1-2) in the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship semifinals. The Bulldogs are currently ranked second in the region.
The Royals were outshot 13-9 this evening, putting two shots on goal compared to Wingate's 13.
Tori Danchak took the loss in goal after totaling four saves, while Wingate goalkeeper, Alexis Jones, recorded two saves.
Wingate would score the lone goal of the game in the 85
th minute when Kaitlyn Brunworth drilled a shot that dropped just under the crossbar and into the net. The Royals would see one more shot on the night before the final horn sounded.
Tonight's game marks the second year in a row that the Royals have been knocked out of the conference championships by the Bulldogs. Last season, they fell 1-0 in overtime to Wingate in the quarterfinal round.
Queens will now wait to see if they receive an at-large bid for the NCAA DII Southeast Regional.
