Women’s Soccer Set to Host Tusculum

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team closed the regular season ranked eighth in the southeast region with a 10-5-2 overall record and an 8-2-1 South Atlantic Conference record. After being pegged to finish seventh in the SAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, Queens enters the 2015 SAC Women's Soccer Championships as the third seed.

Queens will play host to sixth seeded Tusculum College who enters the tournament at 9-7-2 on the year and 5-4-2 in league play. The Pioneers saw a five-game win streak in the middle of their season before closing with a pair of losses, a win over Catawba, and a tie with Wingate. Taylor Lewis leads Tusculum with 19 points on eight goals and three assists. Carly Miller has 18 points on seven goals and four assists.

The Royals will enter the game having not dropped a single match in the month of October. They closed the season winning seven conference games in a row to grab a third place finish in the SAC, their highest finish since joining the league. It is also the Royals' second time ending the regular season with 10 wins since joining the SAC in 2013. During that season, Queens ended up facing the Pioneers in the quarterfinal round of the tournament falling 1-0 to Tusculum on the road.

Currently, Charlotte Ring leads the Royals with 22 points on 10 goals and two assists. She ranks first in the league and 35th in the nation in game-winning goals with five. Additionally, the freshman forward ranks in the top-five in goals and points in league play. Kathy Fisher has nine points on three goals and three assists.

On the defensive end, Queens' backline, along with goalkeeper Tori Danchak, has recorded seven shutouts on the year. Danchak currently leads the SAC in conference only games in the category. She also ranks second in goals-against average (.80) and fourth in save percentage (.841).

Queens defeated Tusculum by a score of 1-0 on September 16, 2015 with junior defender Ashley Osiecki scoring the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 60th minute.
