Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team was able to improve their overall record to 7-5-2 and their South Atlantic Conference record to 5-2-1 this afternoon after picking up a 2-1 win over Newberry College (3-8-2, 2-6-0).
The Wolves would take a 1-0 lead in today's game following a goal from Michelle Calmeyn in the 29
th minute, but Queen's
Alana Jefferson would knot the game up, 1-1, just before the half with a goal in the 44
th.
Freshman forward
Charlotte Ring would then score the game-winner in the 69
th minute, assisted by
Kayla Washabaugh. The game-winner was Ring's second of the season. Ring now leads the Royals with seven goals on the season.
Queens edged the Wolves in shots, 13-12, putting six shots on goal.
Tori Danchak recorded three saves in goal for Queens, while Rebecca Darley notched four for the Wolves.
The women's soccer team will be back in action at Dickson Field on Wednesday when they host Anderson University at 7:30 p.m.
