Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team improved to 1-1 in South Atlantic Conference play tonight after taking a 3-0 victory over Brevard College at Dickson Field. The win brings the Royals' record to 2-5 on the year. The Tornados fall to 0-2 in the SAC and 2-4 on the season.
Queens opened the game putting a good amount of pressure on Brevard's defense coming up unlucky on the receiving end of a few great crosses into the box. It would be
Brenna Kate Grass to put the ball in the back of the net for the first score of night in the 43
rd tapping a low cross past Brevard's goalkeeper, Jocelyn Springer.
Katie Causey was the passer on the play after subbing into the game a little over halfway through the period.
Queens continued pressuring the Tornados in the second half scoring a goal just under five minutes into play when
Mary Pritts trapped a ball that was cleared poorly by two Brevard defenders in the box. Pritts would send a grounder into the right corner of the net for her first career goal.
The third goal of the night came from freshman midfielder
Alana Jefferson in the box on a service from
Jill Clark at midfield, giving Queens a 3-0 lead in the 56
th.
The Royals outshot Brevard 11-5 this evening and took nine corner kicks.
Tori Danchak picked up her second shutout of the season after totaling two saves. Springer finished the 90 minutes of regulation with seven saves for Brevard.
Queens is back on the road traveling to Anderson on September 24. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
