Box Score HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team travelled to Coker College to take on the Cobras in a crucial SAC matchup today. The Royals were able to take the match by the score of 3-1 and improved their record to 8-9 overall and 8-7 in the SAC.
         
In set one the Royals offense took flight and looked untouchable. Tied early at 6-6 the Royals slammed down the gas pedal and never looked back. Queens finished the set by the score 25-14, and an impressive hitting percentage of .560.
 
Set two was much closer as the score was tied five times with both teams counterpunching each other early. Eventually the home team took the lead late and won the set 21-25.  Opposite of the first set the Royals offense statistically struggled and finished with a .125 hitting percentage.
 
Following the break the Royals came out on fire and jumped to a 12-1 lead. From there the Royals kept tacking on points, highlighted by multiple kills by 
Brittney Barren and 
Keri Kemp, as well as, three straight service aces by 
Alexa Sparrell. From there the Royals rolled to a 25-8 behind a .444 hitting percentage.
 
In the fourth set the Royals once again took an early lead, and were ahead 14-4 by the midpoint of the match. From Queens maintained the lead and took the set and match by the score of 25-16.
 
Queens was led by Kemp who finished with 21 kills and was joined in double digits by 
Anna Gibbs with 10. As always the steady hands of 
Taylor Riley guided the Royals from her setter position, and she finished with 47 assists. Defensively the trio of 
Jocelyn Kellinger, 
Megan Mancini, and Kemp finished in double digits in kills.
 
The Royals return home to host Mars Hill on the 29
th.
