HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Kristen Wright (Salisbury, Md., Parkside) scored two goals today in route to a 4-0 win for the women's soccer team over Coker College. Queens University of Charlotte is on a three game winning streak improving their conference record to 3-0 (3-3 overall), while the Cobras are 0-3 (0-6 overall).
Queens stayed persistent in the first half taking _ shots before connecting late in the half. Sarah Johnson (West Columbia, S.C., Brookland-Cayce) scored the first goal of the game with the final shot of the half at 43:54. Anna Decker (Sea Girt, N.J., Wall ) assisted on the play.
The Royals began the second half with the momentum they ended the first half with scoring two goals in the first five minutes. Wright netted both early second half goals giving the Queens a 3-0 lead. The first of the two was assisted by Sami Striano (Clearwater, Fla., Countryside ), while the second was unassisted.
Hope Hartman (Lillington, N.C., Homeschool) entered the game at 56:12 and booted the ball in to the net in the 57th minute of play from inside the box giving the Royals a 4-0 lead. Kelsey Howard (Marietta, Ga., Dominion Christian)earned the assist on the goal.
Megan Hirschy (Fort Wayne, Ind., Shattuck-St.Mary's School) was awarded the shutout, while Carrie Hudnell of the Cobras recorded six saves.
The Royals will return to the field on Wednesday, September 22nd at the Queens Sports Complex at 7:30 p.m.
