Charlotte, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte volleyball's earned their first conference win Friday night, as they swept Erskine College, 26-24; 25-18; and 25-23 at Ovens Athletics Center. The Royals improve to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in Conference Carolinas while Erskine falls 3-9 and 1-2 respectively on the season.
Leading the way for the Royals was
Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley ), who tallied 22 of Queens' 41 kills. Assisting on each of the Royals' kills was
Erinn Moore (Longwood, Fla., Lake Mary), who totaled an impressive 41 assists. Also contributing with a well-balanced attack was
Erica Mazur (Waxhaw, N.C., Weddington), 5 kills, 3 aces, 15 digs, and 2 blocks.
Keeping Erskine in each game was Larz Chabra, who assisted on 25 of the Flying Fleet's 31 kills. Atop of Erskine, who had four players scoring 5 or more kills, was Lizz Massey with 9 kills.
Queens continues conference play Saturday at noon, when Anderson University 6-6 (1-2) visits Ovens Athletics Center.
