CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Royals men's tennis team fell to Division I institution The Citadel 4-2 in non-conference action on Thursday, March 26.
Queens picked up wins in single flights 1 and 6 from Christiaan Lee-Daigle (Tecumseh, Ontario, L'Essor Secondary School) and James McKinzie (Austin, Tex., Lake Travis).
Lee-Daigle won his match in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). McKinzie picked up the win with scores of 6-1, 6-4. Jonathan O'Rourke (Auckland, New Zealand, Kings College) just missed a win in flight 2, falling 10-8 in a tie-breaker set. He rallied from a 4-6 first set loss to win the second set 6-1.
The match was played by Division I rules, where the singles matches each count for one point and all three doubles matches count for one point. Only one doubles match was played during the contest.
Queens hosts Limestone on March 29. The game is a rescheduled rained out contest.
