Queens University of Charlotte volleyball won its first home game, second game overall, of the season this afternoon against Coker Cobras. The Royals defeated the Cobras in three sets, 25-15-25-23, 25-13, for the second time this season and improve to 2-10 overall and 2-3 in Conference Carolinas play. Coker falls to 2-10 overall and 0-3 in league action. The win snaps a seven game slide by the Royals.
As a team, Queens totaled 26 kills. The Queens offense was led by freshman Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley )with seven kills and Natalie Weiner (Greensboro, N.C., Page )had six. Amanda Valbert (Champaign, Ill., Champaign Central )recorded 18 assists. On the defensive end, Harvey and Tanisha Lea each had two block assists.
The visiting Cobras were led by Kristen Teets, seven kills, and Paige Murrya, six kills. Teets also led the team defensively with three block assists.
Queens will play again on Tuesday, Sept. 23, when they host Pfeiffer University. Coker also hosts a conference opponent on Tuesday as they take on St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
