Queens Defeated by UNC-Pembroke, 3-0

The Royals Match against Armstrong Atlantic at 12:00pm was cancelled due to a power outage at UNC-P.

In the second day of the Fairfield Inn Invitational, Queens University of Charlotte was defeated by UNC-Pembroke in three games on Saturday morning in Pembroke, N.C.  The Royals were defeated by scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-22.

The Royals got off to a slow start against the Braves in the first two games.  They picked up momentum in the third game and began to dig their way back in to the match with the two teams fighting through six tie scores and four lead changes with UNCP outlasting Queens to win the set 25-22.

Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley )led the Royals offense with seven kills on 22 swings.  Tanisha Lea (Efland, N.C., Orange Senior ) led on the defensive end with 17 digs on the morning followed by Keatin McKenzie (Coral Springs, Fla., Cardinal Gibbons ) with nine.

Allie Schneider of UNCP racked up 10 kills for the Braves in the match while the Braves notched 9.0 team blocks.

Due to a power outage at the English E. Jones Center, the Royals second match for the day against Armstrong Atlantic University was cancelled.

The Royals record is now 3-16 overall and 3-7 in conference play.  They are back in action away against Lees McRae in Banner Elk, N.C. on October 7.
