Spartanburg, S.C.- Queens takes home another season victory today after defeating the Valkyries at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. The Royals dominated Converse throughout the game winning 4-0.Goals were scored by
Kari Byzewski (Virginia Beach, Va., Salem ),
Erin Likins (Leavenworth, Kan., Leavenworth ),
Sara Beth Jones (Laurinburg, N.C., Scotland ), Katherine Johnson (Chapel Hill, N.C., Northwood ) respectively.
Byzewski's goal came in the 20th minute of the game, unassisted on her third try in a row. Likins also scored later in the first half. With fresh legs in the second half, Jones scored in the 79th minute. Hillary Parkin of Converse received a red card in the 85th minute giving the Royals a penalty kick. Johnson stepped up to the challenge and scored, solidifying the Royals victory.
The Royals took a total of 14 shots on goal out of 22 shots total for the game. Johnson led the team in shots with a total of six, four on goal. Byzewski followed behind her with three shots for the evening.
Mallory Begley had the only shot of the game for the Valkyries. Ashley Mercuri finished the game with ten saves.
The Royals are now 5-5-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
