Queens Volleyball falls to Francis Marion 3-0

Close matches start the Royals off with hope.

Pembroke, N.C. - The Royals  lost  by a close margin to  the Francis Marion Patriots in their first contest of the Fairfield Inn Invitational,  hosted by UNC-Pembroke. The matches were close; L 25-22, L 25-19, L25-22, and the Royals freshman Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley ) led the team in kills, with seven for the night.
On the defensive end, senior Tamalea Pierce (Asheboro, N.C., SW Randolph ) led the team in digs with 14 for the evening. The Loss to Francis Marion marks the Royals record of 3-15 for the season, while they remain at 3-7 in Conference Carolinas action.  Francis Marion improves to a 14-4  record for the season, including their  2-0 record  in the Peach Belt conference. Ashlee Crook led the Patriots in kills with thirteen for the evening. Ashlyn Underhill led the patriots in digs with 12 total for her three matches.
Queens next match is  against  host institution,UNC-P,  at 10:00 AM October 4, 2008.
