Women’s Soccer Continues to Roll! Downs Pfeiffer 1-0

Queens remains undefeated in conference play

MISENHEIMER, N.C.- Sami Striano (Clearwater, Fla., Countryside ) scored the game-winning goal six minutes into play in the 1-0 Queens University of Charlotte win over Conference Carolinas opponent Pfeiffer University this afternoon in Misenheimer, N.C.

The win extends a  Conference Carolinas unbeaten streak to 16 games. The Royals have eight conference wins plus one tie this season, three ties during the 2007 tournament  and four 2007 regular season wins.

Striano's game-winning goal marks her second game-winner in the past three conference contests.

Pfeiffer (8-7 overall/5-2 CC) held a slight offensive advantage with 15 shots to the Royals (8-6-2/8-0-1) 11. Amanda Wright (Salisbury, Md., Parkside )totaled four of the 11 shots, with three being on goal. Queens did earn two corner kicks while giving up seven.

Kristen Kornacki (Glen Allen, Va., Deep Run ) made seven saves in the shutout, her second consecutive shutout. Kornacki has not given up a conference goal in more than 225 minutes.

Queens has two more conference contests to play and one out of conference contest. The Royals travel to Erskine College on Oct. 25, hosts Tusculum on Oct. 29 and finishes out the regular season at Mount Olive College on Nov. 1.
