BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships announced their qualifications list for the 2017 national meet today as Queens University of Charlotte saw 22 athletes invited to the event. Eleven swimmers from the women's team and eleven swimmers from the men's team will take the trip to Birmingham, Ala., on March 8, to defend their titles.
The Royals hold the second highest number of athletes, on both sides, heading into the four-day long championship. Both programs stand as back-to-back title holders in addition to being ranked first in the country on the men's side and second in the country on the women's side.
The women's team posted seven national titles at last year's meet.
Hannah Peiffer will look to defend her crown in this year's 100 yard backstroke after securing the honor in 2016 with a time of 53.51. The men's team won six events on the national stage to help garner the team trophy at the end of the meet.
