Wingate, N.C. -The Queens University of Charlotte men's cross country team took a third place overall finish at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals on Saturday, November 7, 2015, taking a team qualifying spot for nationals in Joplin, Mo.
Jimmy Hollingsworth and
Yannick Stubbe took the second and third overall finish, respectively, helping the Royals to a total of 104 points.
Mount Olive took the top region spot with a total of 52 points for the race with three runners falling in the top 10. Mars Hill claimed second overall with 89 points as Alex Griggs led the competition.
Hollingsworth's second place run landed him a time of 32:35.9 for a 10k race. Stubbe would cross the finish line shortly after to secure the third place spot with a 32:48.7 finish.
Jose Rosas found his way onto the Southeast All-Region team running a 34:25.8 to finish 22
nd for the Royals.
Ben Schmidt and
Henno Havenga concluded the scoring runs for the team as Schmidt ran a 34:50.6 for 29
th place. Havenga ran a 35:40.7 for 48
th place to secure the team's spot in the qualifying rankings.
Also competing were
Avery Cypress and
Elijah Inuwa. Cypress took 53
rd place with a time of 36:04.3 while Inuwa took 58
th place with a 36:15.7.
The team will compete at the NCAA Division II Nationals on November 21.
