CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Amanda Martin (Geneva, N.Y. , Geneva) of the women's lacrosse team has been named the March Female InterCon Student-Athlete of the Month for her spectacular performances during the month.
The Royals went 5-3 during the month facing three teams ranked in the top-10 nationally. Martin, a senior attacker, posted 26 goals and one assist in the eight games. Currently she is ranked fifth in total goals with 37 and 29th in total points with 41 nationally.
Martin returned to the field this season after suffering two season ending knee injuries.
“It is very hard to come back from one knee surgery let alone two knee surgeries,” said Head Coach Meghan Dennehy. “She has been able to overcome the ups and downs that come with rehab and overall has a great attitude and work ethic, and those are the main reason she has been so successful this year.”
Martin scored four out of the team's seven total goals in the Royals' game against Bloomsburg including the game winner. She also had four goals against Southern New Hampshire, St. Andrews, and Erskine. Martin has scored three or more goals in ten of Queens' 14 games.
The Royals have two more conference games to play before the Conference Carolinas Tournament begins.
